nySTART Guided Demonstration -
This demonstration is designed to walk the user through each type
of report available in the nySTART analytical tool. the demo uses a
red asterisk (*) to guide the user
through the demonstration.

STEPS for using nySTART demo:
1) Open browser and go to:
http://www.growdemo.com/nys/
2) You are now on the login page.
a) Enter “nys456” (without the quote-marks) in the white box
labeled “Login ID”
b) Enter “demo789” (without the quote-marks) in the white box
labeled “Password”
c) Click on the “OK” button (or press Enter on your keyboard)
3) You are now on the main Lobby page. In the middle of the page
is the “Reports” section. Under the “Assessment Reports” heading is
a list of “Interactive Reports.”
a) In the 2005-06 school year row, click on “NYSTP Math*”
4) You are now on the Aggregate Performance school summary report
page for Math.
a) Click on the “LEP” dropdown box (in the dark blue “Student
Filter” row near the top of the page.)
b) Un-check the “English Proficient” box in the pop-up
c) Click on “Go*” (at the far right
of the “Student Filter” row).
5) This page shows the Aggregate Performance school report for
Math for Limited English Proficient students.
a) Click on the “Subgroups*” link
(near the top of the page, just below the “Franklin School”
heading)
6) This report shows the Aggregate Performance school report by
grade and accountability subgroup.
a) Click on the “Overview*” link
(near the top of the page, just below the “Franklin School”
heading)
7) You are now on the Aggregate Performance school summary report
page for Math.
a) Click on the “Grade*” dropdown
menu (toward the top of the gold navigation box at the upper left
hand corner of the page.)
b) Scroll the pointer over the resultant menu of Grade choices
until “Grade 4” is highlighted in blue, then click “Grade 4” (the
page will automatically redirect to the Grade 4 summary.)
c) Click on the “Subgroups*” link
(near the top of the page, just below the “Franklin School”
heading)
8) You are now on the Aggregate Performance school summary report
page for Grade 4 Math.
a) Click the radio button to the left of “District/State*”
in the bright blue “Comparison” row near the top of the page.
9) This report shows the grade 4 performance for this school in
comparison to its district and the State, by accountability
subgroup.
a) Click on “Content Strands*”
link (near the top of the page, just below the “Franklin School”
heading)
10) This report shows the Grade 4 Math Aggregate Performance for
this school by strand compared to the State total at levels 2, 3, 4
and All Students.
a) Click on the “Items Performance*”
link under the “Algebra” Content Strand (second row in table,
first column.)
11) This report shows the Grade 4 Math Aggregate Performance for
this school for each question in the strand compared to the State
total at levels 2, 3, 4 and All Students.
a) Click on the “Students*” link
(near the top of the page, just below the “Franklin School”
heading)
12) This shows the list of Grade 4 students in the school on a
“dashboard” with each student’s score and performance level on the
test, in addition to the student’s performance range on each content
strand.
a) Click on the name of a student “Andrews, Robert E.*”
for a PDF of the individual student report for that student.
